Today we will talk about building a home office. In this season of our lives, many of us find ourselves working from home. We may have distractions, whether it be people in our house or pets. This can be challenging at best, but we must find a nook that we can carve out for our home office, a space we can call our own.
Probably one of the most important questions you must ask yourself when building this space is, how will I define this as an office? This can be done many different ways. Perhaps you have a small closet that you can spare. Think about pulling things out of your closet, opening up the doors, and sliding a small desk or even a small table that you can cover. Perhaps put a bulletin board on the back of the wall or paint it your favorite color. Layer in a few favorite things, perhaps a candle or maybe some incense, whatever it is you need to make this place special and yours. The Mood you are creating is very important, this space is meant to inspire you and evoke the feeling of an environment that separates you from distractions and allows workflow.
Wherever you are creating your office space you must remember, even if it looks so nice that you never want to leave, this is your dedicated WORK space! Take breaks, go for a walk, grab some lunch at the local deli (i.e. your kitchen!). If you are intentionally curating your space, it will help you tell your story and give you joy. Our advice to you is simple: Do whatever you need for inspiration. Truly, it is all around us and we just want to help you find it!
